Automatic clinching machine
Automatic clinching has replaced hand riveting
Globe Engineering Ltd has recently designed & manufactured a special-purpose clinching machine using BTM Tog-L-Loc
clinch tooling to significantly reduce manufacturing costs in the assembly of pre-painted industrial light fittings
  
The special purpose machine (which is manually loaded / unloaded) holds the range of panels positively against datum points
& automatically folds corner locking & clinch tabs in a single operation to achieve a high precision mitred corner joints
The machine has specially designed & manufactured precision machined “picture frame” clamps which guarantee
a 90 degree corner, giving consistent repeatability whilst improving customer satisfaction
Two corners are clinched in one operation. The panels are then rotated manually to clinch the two remaining corners.
The machine is fully adjustable (manually) to cater for 15 different panel sizes changes in height, width & depth
are catered for
Any size change is achieved in less than a minute
  
A second more automated machine has now been ordered to clinch a new product, where 4 corners clinched in the same operation to reduce cycle time & further improve productivity
